Charlie Cox Says He'd Support a PG Version of DAREDEVIL and Wants More Time with Bullseye
As of right now, we don’t know what Marvel’s future plans are for Daredevil in the MCU, but there are plans in place and they started with reintroducing Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
The big question that fans have been wondering is that when Marvel does move forward with the character in a new series or film, will it be the same hardcore version of the character in the shows that were produced for Netflix? Or will it be a much tamer version?
During a recent interview with CB, Cox talked about the Netflix Marvel shows recently making the jump to Disney+ and said: "I was texting with some of the guys from the show and the text I wrote was, 'Born Again,'" referencing the comic book story arc from Frank Miller. He went on to say:
"I wouldn't put it past the folks at Marvel to be able to accomplish that. I'm such a fan of everything they've done so far, I wouldn't underestimate them at all. So if they wanted to make a more PG version of Daredevil, I back them to find a way to do where it feels totally in keeping with everything we've done. And maybe there's a little less blood, maybe there's a little whatever, but I back them to do it."
Personally, I don’t think Marvel is going to go that route. Kevin Feige has said multiple times in regards to the Deadpool franchise, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” and I imagine that vision also applies to Daredevil. On top of that, Disney+ updated the streaming service so that these types of darker and more gritty Marvel shows can exist on there, which means the door is open no to add more of those types of shows. From what I understand, Moon Knight will be one of them.
So, if that’s the case, we can expect Marvel Studios to keep the Daredevil franchise true to the way it was on Netflix. When asked about what he’s like to see explored in the future with his character, Cox said:
"I really like the Black Widow, the Daredevil/Black Widow stuff. That relationship is really funny to me, I don't know why. I find it really funny and sexy at the same time. Other than that, it's difficult. The obvious one is Spider-Man, isn't it? That is the one, I would have to get more time with Bullseye. We just touched on that story, and we were just gearing up for it before we weren't allowed to continue. I really enjoyed working with Wilson Bethel on that character. There are so many, but I think the obvious one is, it would be really cool to get some Daredevil/Spider-Man stuff, more stuff."
What do you all think? What would you like to see with the future of Daredevil?
