Charlie Cox Teases What May Have Been in DAREDEVIL Season 4
Fans have Tweeted and petitioned for years since the ending of Daredevil on Netflix to have the show return. This hasn’t happened, and it doesn’t seem like the course is set that way, but we do hope that star of the show Charlie Cox is brought back to play the character in some capacity. He was fantastic in the role.
Cox recently met back up with co-star Deborah Ann Woll at MCM London (via CB) and, while talking about a potential return, the actor shared a few details about what we may have seen, had the show returned for a fourth season:
"A lot of time has passed. So, god knows if anything can happen for us in the future, I really don't know. Obviously, if something were to happen, that would be thrilling. But because so much time has passed, I'd imagine it would have to be a kind of reimagining. Assuming that they choose to use us, it would be an interesting scenario, because it would be a reimagining with the same foundation. I know there are so many great storylines to tell. We never really got into the Bullseye stuff. There is an unfinished history with Karen and Matt that we got to almost get to in Season 2."
While Cox is bummed that he didn’t get to bring this storyline to the screen for a fourth season, he is glad that the show ended on a high note. He went on to say:
"There's a lot of loose ends we'd like to tie up. Having said that, I'm really proud of what we did, and we ended on a high. And I'd rather that than, just because there's a huge fan base, to run it into the ground. We made 60-plus hours, and at some point you start to run out of ideas, everyone does. And what you don't want to do is suddenly end up with a forced bad season that didn't really work."
I hope that someday Charlie Cox is able to return to play Matt Murdoch, and that he gets to see the character live out the rest of his stories. I don’t think it’s out of the question, and I do think fans have made their wishes known, so anything is possible. What would you like to see happen with the future of the character Daredevil?
