Charlie Cox Thought Marvel's Call Asking Him to Come Back as Daredevil Was a Joke

Charlie Cox made his big return as Matt Murdock in Spider-Man: No Way Home and then his made his debut as Daredevil in episode 8 of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law! It’s good to see him running around in the MCU again, and he will also appear in Marvel’s Echo series before his highly-anticipated solo series Daredevil: Born Again.

It turns out that when Marvel actually reached out to Charlie Cox about reprising his role of Daredevil, he thought it was a joke. While talking to CinePop, he said:

"I thought it was a joke. I thought it was a prank. Then I thought maybe – I had an answer machine message saying, 'Kevin Feige's assistant, can you call us back?' And then I thought maybe it was a charity event for Covid and they're bringing everyone in. And then I get on the phone and it's like, 'Do you want to be in Spider-Man?' It's just bonkers. I'm in the garden in my house, and my wife is sitting on the steps, looking at me like, 'What's happening?' It was mad, it's just nuts. It's a childhood dream, it was unbelievable."

And that was the start of the future of Daredevil in the MCU! I recently rewatched the original Daredevil series, and that show was freakin’ badass! It’s so good, and I hope that moving forward with the character, Marvel embraces that dark and gritty badassery.
