Charlie Hunnam Has Signed on to Star in Series Adaptation SHANTARAM for Apple TV
Charlie Hunnam, of Sons of Anarchy fame, is returning to TV in the new series Shantaram for Apple TV. The international drama is based on the best-selling book by Gregory David Roberts. The series is being written by Eric Warren Singer (American Hustle), with Justin Kurzel (Assassin’s Creed) directing the first two episodes of the 10-episode first season. Deadline reports the following synopsis for the story:
Shantaram tells the story of Lin (Hunnam), a man on the run from an Australian prison looking to get lost in the teeming city of Bombay. Cut off from family and friends by distance and fate, he finds a new life in the slums, bars and underworld of India.
The adaptation has been in the works with various actors attached, including Johnny Depp, for the last 15 years, but has finally taken off with Hunnam in the lead. No complaints here. Shantaram is set to start filming in Australia and India next month. Are you interested in this film?
