Charlize Theron Has No Idea What Her Future at Marvel Studios Is and Asks "Is That Bad?"
Charlize Theron made her MCU debut during the post-credits scene of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. She plays Clea, the half-Faltine and half-Dark Dimension being who approaches Doctor Strange and tells him that he "caused an incursion," and, "You're going to help me fix it." She then cuts a hole in reality and reveals the Dark Dimension on the other side.
There’s a big and wild adventure that is set up here, but we have no idea when Marvel is going to tell that story. Theron was recently asked about it by MTV's Josh Horowitz and she doesn’t even know! She said:
"I don't. No, I haven't gotten a call. I've not gotten a- Is that bad? Is that bad? Is that bad? No, I'm not lying... I haven't gotten a call. Is that bad?"
So, Marvel has not reached out to the actress to fill her in on what the future plans for Clea are. I’m sure that one day they will tell that story because it could be a cool story! In the comics, Clea fought alongside Dr. Strange in his battles against Dormammu in the Dark Dimension, and the two eventually form a relationship and get married.
The film’s writer Michael Waldron previously talked about bringing Theron into the MCU saying: "Charlize, she's badass. It's awesome. It's so cool. I was so excited. It's dream casting for that character. I felt like we needed to close the book on Doctor Strange and Christine Palmer's relationship, and I feel like she advances him as a character, when she tells him to not be afraid of loving someone [or] of letting himself be loved. That's what opens the door for him to finally meet his great love from the comics. And so, she's every bit his equal. And I just think they have an amazing dynamic in the comics, and so I'm excited to see how that plays out in the future."
I think there’s definitely a future for this character, we just have no idea when Marvel is going to tell that story.
