Charming Trailer for Heartfelt Biopic THE ELECTRICAL LIFE OF LOUIS WAIN Starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Claire Foy
A charming trailer has been released for the film The Electrical Life of Louis Wain, starring Oscar nominee Benedict Cumberbatch and Emmy winner Claire Foy. The film is based on the life of “the titular English painter who specialized in exaggerated cartoons of wide-eyed felines.” The film is directed by Will Sharpe (The Darkest Universe, Flowers) and is based on the story by Simon Stephenson (Luca, Paddington 2) with screenplay by Stephenson and Sharpe.
The synopsis reads:
“The film spans from the late 1800s to the 1930s and centers on forgotten British artist Wain, a brilliant but troubled soul, whose fascination with the mysteries of the world is complicated and deepened when he meets the love of his life Emily (Foy).”
The main cast members are joined by Andrea Riseborough, Toby Jones, Sharon Rooney, Aimee Lou Wood, Hayley Squires, Stacy Martin, Phoebe Nicholls, Adeel Akhtar, Asim Chaudhry, Richard Ayoade, Julian Barratt and Sophia di Martino. Taika Waititi, Nick Cave and Olivia Colman also appear in the film, with Colman providing narration.
This looks like a very sweet story about a man who I hadn’t heard of previously. I love this cast, and I can’t wait to check out the film. Amazon will release theatrically in the U.S. on October 22, and via Prime Video on November 5.
