Charming Trailer For The Comedy I USED TO GO HERE with Gillian Jacobs and Jemaine Clement
I’ve got a delightful trailer to share with you today for an upcoming comedy titled I Used To Go Here, which stars Gillian Jacobs and Jemaine Clement. I enjoy watching both of these actors in the projects that they make, and this latest project looks like a wonderfully fun film!
The story follows a 35-year-old writer named Kate Conklin (Jacobs) who receives an invitation from her former professor and old crush (Clement) to speak at her alma mater after the lackluster launch of her debut novel. “With her book tour canceled and her ego deflated, Kate decides to take the trip, wondering if returning to her old college as a published author might give her the morale boost she sorely needs. Instead, she falls into a comical regression – from misadventures with eccentric twenty-year-olds to feelings of jealousy toward her former professor’s new favorite student. Striking the balance between bittersweet and hilarious, Kate takes a journey through her past to redefine her future.”
A review for the film on RogerEbert.com said, “At its best, I Used to Go Here is a fun hangout movie, driven by Rey’s affection for her characters. It avoids pointing fingers at young people the way so many of these college comedies tend to do, and similarly doesn’t make Kate into a sad sack. She’s just trying to figure out what’s next, and if it takes looking into her past to do so, then so be it.”
The movie was directed by Kris Rey (Unexpected) and Gravitas Ventures will release it on August 7th.
