Check Out China's IRON MAN Space Robot

Look! Up in the sky! It's a bird! It's a plane! It's...Iron Man? That's not how that phrase is supposed to end, but if you're a Chinese citizen, it may be something you actually say sometime soon if you look skyward.

THR points us to a story about a Chinese robot that's designed to look like famed Marvel superhero Tony Stark in his iconic armor.

According to Chinese state news agency Xinhua, the robot was built by China Aerospace Science and Technology Corp., the government's leading space contractor. Named Xiaotian, which translates as “Little Sky," the humanoid bot is said to be capable of handling the "the harsh space environment and complex manipulation tasks." It was designed for deployment in a variety of space settings, including lunar landings, space stations or aboard unmanned space probes. Another Chinese news site says the robot's hands have dexterity comparable to human hands.

This appears to be the first robot of its kind that's influenced by a Marvel hero, but it makes me wonder: if they have an Iron Man, how long until they eventually build an Ultron? Hopefully they create the rest of the Avengers first...just in case.
