Check Out the War Table for MARVEL'S AVENGERS
Square Enix recently released the first ever Marvel’s Avengers War Table to give fans a more in-depth look at the upcoming superhero game. We got a new trailer introducing Ms. Marvel and M.O.D.O.K. as well as more gameplay footage and more.
The trailer really helps explain what the main story for Marvel’s Avengers is going to be. Ms. Marvel will have to reunite the Avengers to stop AIM from using Inhumans as scientific test subjects. It looks like a pretty good story.
As for gameplay, we get to see some of the mission “Once an Avenger,” which is a Thor mission. Thor is described as a versatile combatant and the video shows the god of thunder destroying robots. One nice thing though is that the player is not perfect and does take some hits.
We also learned about the three types of Heroic Moves. Assault Heroics come straight from the comics. Support Heroics are designed for cooperative play to help provide buffs to your teammates. Ultimate Heroics are the biggest moves that do a ton of damage and clear the screen. Some even have residual effects.
Marvel’s Avengers has been designed to help players play their way. This comes through skill and level customization, gear customization, and even just which hero you choose. Different heroes have different strengths like melee, ranged, aerial, or ground combat. There are also outfits that celebrate various eras of each hero. These will be unlockable through missions, progression, or some through purchases.
As for cooperative play, fans were shown some gameplay footage of that. War Zones will allow you to play with three of your friends or with AI. New objectives and missions will become available, but they’ll all work towards stopping AIM and building the Resistance. During these missions, there will be opportunities for two players to do a team attack on bad guys which is pretty awesome.
Finally, I think it’s great that they’re planning to release story updates and more for free. I’m pretty excited for Marvel’s Avengers, which is set to release on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One on September 4.
