Check Out These New Comic Kickstarters

I’ve got here a list of Kickstarters focused on comics. There are quite a few here and so I’m not going to give all of them the spotlight, but one that really caught my eye is Death Transit Tanager by Karl Kerschl. I saw the art and instantly got Samus vibes and was intrigued. It sounds like a pretty cool comic. Also, it’s important to note that Rise of Izta launched this week and is already almost over, so hurry if you like that one. Which of these projects are you most interested in and what other projects should we check out? Let us know in the comments below.

Set in Draco Studios’ Dragonbond universe, Rise of Itza is a 112-page graphic novel featuring all the trappings of the high fantasy genre – epic adventures, earth-shattering magic, superhuman entities, and, of course, awe-inspiring dragons. Rise of Itza explores the origin story of young necromancer Itza Chapula as she fights to defend her people from the threat of war, armies of both the living and the dead, and a dragon hell-bent on the destruction of her home.

54+ page, full-throttle finale to the IMPOSSIBLE TEAM-UP story arc.

The fourth and final team-up book! In a story so big it needs EVERYBODY. Who’s the Big Bad? Certainly not Krampus. Holly’s onetime mentor is a single-minded, sadistic anti-Santa intent on spreading misery, but his only “power” is a razor-barbed whip. It’s not like he found a source of unlimited — uh-oh.

A 100-page "modern folk horror" graphic novel.

Tanager Ray can speak to the dead. One of a handful of young women who have this strange ability, she works as a Death Transit — a ferryman for lost souls stuck between here and the afterlife. Inspired by Metroid and Hellboy and a LOT of manga and anime, each issue of Death Transit Tanager is a murder mystery in space, filled with creeping dread and kinetic sci-fi action! The stand-alone feature story follows Tanager on the job as she tracks down an old asteroid miner's body, while the all-new Past Lives colour backup story delves into her past — who was she before she became a Death Transit?

Blood. Death. Pigs. Grindhouse horror graphic novel.

Slaughterhouse Farm is a blood-soaked love letter to the grindhouse horror classics of the ’70s and ’80s. The horror of The Hills Have Eyes or Texas Chain Saw Massacre relocated to the isolated mountains of North Wales. There is tongue-in-cheek humour and a mysterious plot to be uncovered — but this comic is still as nasty as hell, with decapitations, impalement's and dismemberment's to keep gore hounds satisfied. The story begins with Frankie and Julian taking a minibus full of troubled teens for a weekend in Snowdonia — but horror is literally waiting round the bend in the twisted form of Pigfucker!

A comic about a witch and her familiar searching for a rare mushroom.

Vesper is a young witch apprenticing to the Grand Witches of Castagno as a Forager, a seeker of hard-to-find ingredients for magical spells. Along with her expressive cat familiar, Onion, she is tasked to find a rare, dangerous mushroom in the Sacred Woods of Chanticleer. If you enjoy warm and cozy adventures in the likes of Kiki's Delivery Service, you will like this cup of tea.
