Check Out These READY PLAYER ONE Magic Eye Posters and a New TV Spot
Warner Bros. team up with RealD to bring us a series of new posters for Ready Player One. What makes these posters so cool is the fact that they are those Magic Eye posters from the late 80s! Do you remember those? I remember seeing them for the first time at the mall set up in one of those kiosks. I stood there forever trying to see the space shuttle that everyone else was seeing! Then all of a sudden it clicked and there it was in all of its 3D magic eye glory! Once it clicked it was easy to see the images.
It's been awhile since I've done it, so it took a little time to see the imagines in these Ready Player One posters, but then I finally got it. Even though each one is just a picture of a key, I still love the marketing for this film! The studio has been having so much fun with it. Not everyone appreciates what they are doing, but as a fan of the book and the feeling of nostalgia I get from all of this, I appreciate the hell out of it.
Ready Player One is a love note to ’80s pop culture, and to celebrate this visually-stunning film, RealD partnered with Magic Eye to hit you with some very rad 3D nostalgia. RealD commissioned three original, highly-collectible Ready Player One Magic Eye prints, which debuted at the opening night party sponsored by RealD. Guests attending the VR installation at Brazos Hall will receive one of three posters as a parting gift while supplies last.
A limited print run of 4,000 each is sure to make these a prized collector’s item. Each print features a unique hidden key—Copper, Jade or Crystal—the same keys Wade Watts and friends, the High Five, are searching for in Ready Player One. Can you see the images in the Magic Eye prints below?
If you need a little help seeing the hidden image in the posters, here are some helpful hints from Magic Eye:
MAGIC EYE® 3D INSTRUCTIONS: Place your nose close to your viewing device until the Magic Eye Image is blurry. Stare far beyond the image, as if you are looking at a sunset. Very slowly move away from the 3D image until you begin to see depth. Now hold still, try not to blink, and the hidden illusion will slowly appear. The longer you look, the clearer the illusion becomes.
Ready Player One stars Tye Sheridan, Olivia Cooke, Mark Rylance, Simon Pegg, T.J. Miller, Hannah John-Kamen and Ben Mendelsohn.
The film is set in 2045, with the world on the brink of chaos and collapse. But the people have found salvation in the OASIS, an expansive virtual reality universe created by the brilliant and eccentric James Halliday (Mark Rylance). When Halliday dies, he leaves his immense fortune to the first person to find a digital Easter egg he has hidden somewhere in the OASIS, sparking a contest that grips the entire world. When an unlikely young hero named Wade Watts (Tye Sheridan) decides to join the contest, he is hurled into a breakneck, reality-bending treasure hunt through a fantastical universe of mystery, discovery and danger..
The Steven Spielberg directed film opens on March 29, 2018.
