Check Out This Atari-Branded BLADE RUNNER 2049 Speakerhat With Speakers on the Brim
Sometimes when you combine two things you get something great. Like when those two trucks collided to make Reese's peanut butter cups or when someone thought to create the DVD/TV. Great thinking. But now Atari has come up with a... Speakerhat?
It's a Bluetooth enabled audio baseball cap with speakers on the brim. I just... no. I'm not into this. With the speakers visible under the brim it seems like it would be annoying for everyone around you if you were listening to it. Why not just wear earphones?
The Speakerhat is being released in conjunction with Blade Runner 2049. Atari partnered with National Entertainment Collectibles Association and the studio and it's kind of a cross promotion kind of thing. NECA COO Joel Weinshanker said this in a statement:
"Atari was an enduring and essential element in the sequel filmmakers’ world-building. The minute the new trailer hit, we started getting requests for Atari-branded Blade Runner 2049 products and knew we’d need to partner with Atari to satisfy the countless joint fans of both franchises."
Atari Connect COO Michael Arzt added:
"With the recent reveal of our Ataribox project and now with Speakerhats, we envision a full range of connected personal devices that live at society’s intersection of entertainment, technology and social connectivity that legendary film worlds like Blade Runner 2049 foretell. Our new products will speak to a whole new generation of Atari fans, while also honoring the decades of affection and devotion by our most loyal ones."
The one cool thing that Atari is doing with this is it also includes bluetooth stream sharing tech called "multi-player mode". This allows two people to stream the same song at the same time to multiple bluetooth devices, which is actually great. They should have promoted this as more than the speakerhat. Stupid Speakerhat...
