Chevy Chase Rips Into SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE and Bashes The Hell Out of It

I’ll be honest, I don’t find Saturday Night Live really that funny these days. I loved watching the show back in the 90s and I enjoyed all of the earlier seasons prior to that. It was just filled with all kinds of hilarious humor that today’s world probably wouldn’t find funny these days due to how much more sensitive people are now.

There are skits in those early years and even in the 90s and early 2000s that would never, in a million years, fly today. These days people feel they need to be careful what they joke about and in my opinion, nothing really funny comes from playing it safe. Comedy isn’t about playing it safe! But that’s the world that we live in now.

Chevy Chase, who is one of the original SNL cast members, recently gave an interview in which he completely torn into the series and how its not funny. In fact, he says it’s “the worst fucking humor in the world.” He just goes off on the show and his rant is pretty enjoyable. If you’re not a fan of the current SNL series, you’ll enjoy this. He told The Washington Post:

“First of all, between you and me and a lamppost, jeez, I don't want to put down Lorne or the cast, but I'll just say, maybe off the record, I'm amazed that Lorne has gone so low. I had to watch a little of it, and I just couldn't fucking believe it. That means a whole generation of shitheads laughs at the worst fucking humor in the world. You know what I mean? How could you dare give that generation worse shit than they already have in their lives? It just drives me nuts.”

He went on to say that when he was on the show he enjoyed the time he spent on it, but that after he left it just went down hill:

“I'd have to say, that after the first two years, it went downhill. Why am I saying that? Because I was in it? I guess. That's a horrible thing to say. But certainly I never had more fun. I really loved it and enjoyed it. I didn't see the same fun thing happening to the cast the next year.”

Hey, at least he’s honest! Chevy Chase was extremely funny back in the day. I absolutely loved his comedy style! But, he doesn’t do much these days. It’s always fun when he comes out with some kind of rant like this, though.
