Chilling Trailer for Amblin's Upcoming Haunted House Horror Thriller THE TURNING with Mackenzie Davis and Finn Wolfhard
Amblin has released the first chilling trailer for their upcoming haunted house horror thriller called The Turning. The movie actually looks like it’s could be pretty terrifying. Their are some wonderfully creepy-ass moments in this trailer.
The film is based on the 1889 Henry James novel The Turn of the Screw, which is the same story that director Mike Flanagan is going to tell with the second season of The Haunting of Hill House, which is called The Haunting of Bly Manor.
The film stars Mackenzie Davis (Terminator: Dark Fate) as a nanny who ends up working in a haunted mansion. The two kids that she is looking over, who are played by Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things) and Brooklynn Prince (The Florida Project), seem like they are pretty messed up. Here’s the synopsis:
At a mysterious estate in the Maine countryside, newly appointed nanny Kate (Mackenzie Davis) is charged with the care of two disturbed orphans, Flora (Brooklynn Prince) and Miles (Finn Wolfhard). She quickly discovers that both the children and the house are harboring dark secrets and things may not be as they appear.
The film was directed by Floria Sigismondi, and when talking about the film with EW, he said:
“We’ve taken this story, and modernized it, and placed it in the 1990s. It follows a nanny who is looking [for] a life change, and when she arrives at the house she meets two orphans, Flora and Miles. They start to act a little strange and she senses that they’re harboring a secret, that they’re hiding something from her. She quickly realizes that there’s something wrong in the house.” Sigismondi went on to explain that the ’90s setting allowed the film to “take away the technology and really drown yourself in the environment.”
I always enjoy a good haunted house flick, and I love what I’m seeing in this trailer. This looks like it’s gonna be a fun and scary horror movie! The Turning opens in theaters on January 24, 2020.
