Chilling Trailer for the Awesome Occult Horror Movie TALK TO ME
A24 has unleashed the first trailer for the upcoming indie horror movie Talk to Me. I had the opportunity to watch this film at The Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, and it was my favorite movie from the fest! It delivers a great, unique, and terrifying story that horror fans are going to enjoy!
The movie centers on a group of friends who discover how to conjure spirits using an embalmed hand. As they continue to play with it, they become hooked on the new thrill, until one of them goes too far and unleashes nightmarish supernatural forces.
This first trailer is just a little taste of what this movie has to offer. What I like about this trailer is that it doesn’t give the story away and it saves the best parts of the film for audiences to experience.
I said in my review of the film: “While the movie delivered some serious chills, I walked out of the theater with a huge smile on my face! This movie deals with the occult, and I’ve had my own ideas about films that deal with playing around with witchcraft and the occult. I feel like a lot of the movies that have been made in the past miss the mark, especially when they involve teenagers. But, this one nails it! Talk To Me plays with some great freakin’ ideas and executed them perfectly.
“I loved how the filmmakers handle all of the horror elements in the movie. It was legitimately scary stuff and everything served the purpose of the story. The scares weren’t just thrown in for the sake of it, they helped move the story forward in gut-wrenching and interesting ways. There were also some great makeup effects created for the movie for the ghosts that these teens encounter over the course of the film, along with other brutal things that happen.”
The synopsis reads: “Conjuring spirits has become the latest local party craze, and looking for a distraction on the anniversary of her mother’s death, teenage Mia (Sophie Wilde) is determined to get a piece of the otherworldly action. When her group of friends gathers for another unruly séance with the mysterious embalmed hand that promises a direct line to the spirits, they’re unprepared for the consequences of bending the rules through prolonged contact. As the boundary between worlds collapses and disturbing supernatural visions increasingly haunt Mia, she rushes to undo the horrific damage before it’s irreversible.”
The film was directed by brothers Danny Philippou and Michael Philippou and it stars Sophie Wilde as Mia, Joe Bird as Riley, Alexandra Jensen, Otis Dhanji, Miranda Otto, Marcus Johnson, Alexandria Steffensen, Zoe Terakes, and Chris Alosio.
A24 will release Talk To Me in theaters starting July 28th, 2023.
