Chloë Grace Moretz Doesn't Want a KICK-ASS 3 and isn't Interested in Playing Hit-Girl Again
Turns out, Chloë Grace Moretz wasn't a fan of Kick-Ass 2 and isn't interested in a Kick-Ass 3. She also doesn't seem to want to reprise her role of Hit-Girl. I actually liked the second Kick-Ass movie and I'd like to see the story continue with these two versions of the main characters, but that's not happening. While talking at the Provincetown Film Festival (via Indiewire), Moretz said:
"I wish the second one had been handled in a little bit of a different way. Because I think we were all kind of looking forward to something a little different than what happened with it all.
As much as I love the character of Hit-Girl, I think she lives and survives in Kick-Ass, and I kind of want to keep her there. I kinda wanna keep everyone’s mind in Kick-Ass. So I don’t think there will be a Kick-Ass 3, at least I don’t think with Hit-Girl in it.”
Moretz doesn't need to worry about these things because director Matthew Vaughn is planning on rebooting the Kick-Ass franchise. He's developing a solo Hit-Girl film, which she obviously won't be a part of. With the actress not coming back, they'll just recast the role.
The Kick-Ass reboot will most likely be based on the comic reboot that focuses on Patience Lee, an African-American single mother who’s taken on the vigilante mantle. As for the Hit-Girl movie, it could either focus on an older Mindy Macready or it could focus on the character's younger years growing up under the tutelage of Big Daddy. In the new comics, Hit-Girl travels the world righting wrongs and brutally kicking ass.
I thought Moretz was awesome as Hit-Girl and it would have been cool to see her reprise her role in another film, but she's obviously moving on to other things.
Is there a young actress you can think of that would be a good choice to take on the role of Hit-Girl in a solo film?
