Chris Evans in Talks to Reprise His Role as Captain America in the MCU
Big news for Marvel fans! Chris Evans is in talks to reprise his role as Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This is definitely news that I didn’t expect to see, and while it may be hard to believe for some, the news comes from Deadline, which is always a solid source. I thought for sure that Marvel would leave the character alone.
The report says that Marvel Studios wants Evans to return as Steve Rogers, a.k.a. Captain America, in “at least one Marvel property with the door open for a second film.” There are no details on what that film project could be, but it’s “unlikely to be a new Captain America installment and more likely to be like what Robert Downey Jr. did after Iron Man 3, appearing in films like Captain America: Civil War and Spider-Man: Homecoming.”
We don’t know for sure, but what we do know is that with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness breaking open the multiverse, there are plenty of ways to play with Captain America in the Marvel franchise. That could open all kinds of doors. Or they are just looking to play with the past a little more.
Evans has said several times in the past that he has hung up his shield and is done with Captain America and ready to move on. But, if Marvel comes knocking and they have a great and smart idea to bring Cap back for another story, I’m sure he’d entertain the idea.
While nothing is set in stone, it’s pretty exciting to learn that we might actually see Cap return! What do you think about Marvel wanting to bring Captain America back to the MCU for a couple of future projects? Where do you think they will include him?
