Chris Evans Is Open to Returning as Captain America Following AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR

Is Chris Evans really done playing Captain America? We still don't have that answer, but we do have some indication that he's interested in re-signing the contract following the conclusion of Avengers: Infinity War. Evans shared his mindset with Collider:

“It’s really not up to me. My contract is up. I’m not going to sit here and say, “No more.” I think Hugh Jackman has made 47 Wolverine movies, and they somehow keep getting better. It’s a character I love, and it’s a factory that really knows what they’re doing. The system is sound, over there. They make great movies. If they weren’t kicking out quality, I’d have a different opinion. But, everything Marvel does seems to be cinema gold. And like I said, I love the character. The only reason it would end is ‘cause my contract is up. After Avengers 4, my contract is done. Talk to Marvel. If we engage further, I’d be open to it. I love the character. It’s almost like high school. You certainly always look to senior year, and then, all of a sudden, senior year happens and you’re like, “I don’t know if I’m ready to go.” It’s tough thinking about not playing the guy.”

That's a smart way to play it. The fact of the matter is, Evans is worth more now than he was back then, and when you take on a role like this, you got to get paid. I say that because it affects your career. Guys like Daniel Craig, Hugh Jackman, and Robert Downey Jr. have to turn down roles to make their commitments to these characters time and time again. If a studio wants to lock you down for the next six years for blockbuster films, they have to get out the pocketbook. I don't think it's unreasonable for Evans to want more money from Disney.

On the flip side, Disney is already paying Robert Downey Jr. out the nose to play Iron Man, so maybe they see it as easier to kill Iron Man and have Sebastian Stan make the transition from Winter Soldier to Captain America. There's a lot of stuff that can go down with this deal, so how knows how it will turn out? We, of course, will keep you updated with whatever we learn!
