Chris Hemsworth Says THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER May Be His Last Marvel Movie

Chris Hemsworth is Marvel’s resident Thor actor, but like the great Iron Man actor Robert Downey Jr., who starred in the film that kickstarted the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Hemsworth’s reign as the God of Thunder may be coming to an end.

A head of next month’s release of Thor: Love and Thunder, Hemsworth sat down for a recent interview with Wired (via CB), and talked about his unsure future in the MCU, saying:

"Well the last [Marvel movie] I shot was 'Thor: Love and Thunder' and it might be my last Marvel movie, I don't know. It was a wild and fun and wacky experience, as all Taika Waititi movies are. Played that character for ten, eleven, years now, and each time it's been new and exciting, and this was no exception to that. It felt very fresh and it felt like we were trying something we hadn't tried before. I was, in Taika's words, I think a wacky, wild, romantic comedy set in space."

Hopefully he isn’t saying this because Thor dies in the movie. I think it’s just that Thor’s future hasn’t been mapped out ahead of this film, but it would make sense that he would be passing the torch, as he has been in the role for over a decade. I would be sad to see him go, and I’m sure other fans would be as well, but it would be understandable. I guess we will know more of Thor’s trajectory once Thor: Love and Thunder is released on theatres on July 8th.
