Chris Hemsworth Shares His Excitement For Playing Hulk Hogan in Upcoming Biopic

About a year ago it was announced that Chris Hemsworth was cast to play legendary wrestler Hulk Hogan in a biopic being developed by director Todd Phillips (Hangover, War Dogs, Joker) and writer Scott Silver (Joker).

This film project is still moving forward and it will focus on the rise of Hogan and tell the origin story of the Hulkster and Hulkamania. The movie will not encompass his whole life or any of the drama that he’s been through in recent years.

This project hasn’t really come up since it was first announced, but in a recent interview with ScreenRant, Hemsworth expressed his excitement for playing Hulk Hogan, saying:

"Look, I haven't read a script yet. I know it's being written now and worked on. I know very little about that. It's sort of in the process now. I'm just fascinated by that world, and I think they're pretty keen to show a side of the world that people haven't seen before. I'm as intrigued as you are."

Hogan actually pitched the idea of Hemsworth playing him in a movie back in 2017, saying, "You know who I thought would be good? That guy that did that action move, Thor.” Well, he got his wish! It’s going to be interesting to see Hemsworth in the role. Hogan was a super energetic guy in his WWF days, that’s why fans loved him when we were growing up! I’m curious to see Hemsworth bring that energy to life and I wonder if he will actually be able to fully express it the way Hogan did.

Born Terry Gene Bollea, Hogan began his career in the late 1970s in the Florida wrestling circuit, and when he started in the WWF, he frequently squared off against Andre the Giant as a villainous fighter. When Vince McMahon took over the company and began expanding it into a national presence, Hogan was its face and by then a hero persona. By the end of the '80s, he was one of the Me Decade’s key personalities, gracing magazine covers, appearing on nightly talk shows and even headlining a Saturday morning cartoon.

Are you excited to see Hemsworth play Hulk Hogan, do you think he can effectively pull it off?
