Chris McKay To Direct Adaptation of Mark Millar's REBORN For Netflix with Sandra Bullock
The director of The LEGO Batman Movie, Chris McKay, is set to direct the adaptation of Mark Millar’s comic book, Reborn. The film is being produced for Netflix by Sandra Bullock, and It producer, Vertigo Entertainment.
Reborn is a sci-fi fantasy comic series that tells the story of “an eighty year-old woman, Bonnie Black, who dies in a Manhattan hospital only to find herself reborn in the prime of life in the afterlife world of Adystria, a magical land of monsters and dragons where good and evil are waging an eternal war. There, she finds old friends and loved ones waiting, except the husband who died before her. Armed with a sword and partnered with her late father, she sets off through the battle-torn landscape on a quest to find out where he is.”
According to Deadline, Bullock could potentially star in the movie, which is currently in development. She obviously is enjoying her relationship with Netflix thanks to the huge success of Bird Box. I imagine that we’ll be seeing her do a lot of future projects with Netflix.
I love the story that this comic tells and I’m excited to hear that it’s being adapted for Netflix. It also has a great team of talent on board to bring the story to life. I’m looking forward to seeing what McKay does with this. He’s also supposed to be directing the Nightwing movie for DC, so this will give him some more live-action directing experience before he jumps into that, if it happens.
