Chris Pine and Jenny Slate to Star in Indie Romance Film CAROUSEL
Chris Pine and Jenny Slate are teaming up for an upcoming indie romance titled Carousel, written and directed by Rachel Lambert, the filmmaker behind the quietly haunting Sometimes I Think About Dying.
While plot details are still under wraps, the project is described as a love story that’s already finished filming in Cleveland, Ohio. Alongside Pine and Slate, the cast includes Abby Ryder Fortson, Sam Waterston, Katey Sagal, Heléne Yorke, Jessica Harper, and Jeffrey DeMunn.
Carousel is produced by Alex Saks along with Bobby Daly Jr. and David Lipper of Latigo Films, with Pine and Ian Gotler producing for Barry Linen Motion Pictures.
For Pine, this marks another intriguing step in his evolving career. Fresh off his directorial debut Poolman, Pine recently appeared in Don’t Worry Darling, Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, and Disney’s Wish.
Up next, he’ll star opposite Cate Blanchett and Dave Bautista in the sci-fi comedy Alpha Gang from sibling filmmakers David and Nathan Zellner.
Slate, meanwhile, continues her impressive run following her Emmy-nominated performance opposite Michelle Williams in FX’s Dying for Sex.
She’ll soon appear in At the Sea, a drama from Kornél Mundruczó that co-stars Amy Adams, Brett Goldstein, and Rainn Wilson, and she’ll also reprise her role in Disney’s Zootopia 2.
