Chris Pine to Star in THE SAINT Remake From Director Dexter Fletcher

A couple of months ago we learned that Paramount Pictures was developing a reboot of The Saint with Dexter Fletcher, the director behind Rocketman, Bohemian Rhapsody, and Eddie The Eagle. It’s now being reported that Chris Pine is in negotiations to star in the film, which is based on the 1920s novel series written by Leslie Charteris.

The movie follows Simon Templar, better known as The Saint, “a Robin Hood-esque criminal and thief for hire who goes on a globetrotting adventure.” The goal for the studio is to turn this into a successful “long-running” film franchise and they feel that Pine is the actor that can help them achieve that. Pine has a strong ties with Paramount which alls started when he was cast in the role of Captain Kirk in Star Trek back in 2009.

The script forThe Saint was written by Seth Grahame-Smith (Dark Shadows, The LEGO Batman Movie), while it is being produced by Lorenzo Di Bonaventura (Transformers, G.I. Joe).

This seems like a role that will be a great fit for Pine, who is set to appear in Wonder Woman 1984 and most recently wrapped production on a project titled Violence of Action. What do you think about Pine taking on the lead role in the film? I think he’s a solid choice for the role!
