Chris Pratt Says He'd "Certainly" Return to the Role of Star-Lord but Only With James Gunn's Blessing
Last year, director James Gunn gave fans a wonderful sendoff with the final film in his Guardians of the Galaxy movie trilogy before moving on from Marvel director to Head of DC Studios, where he is developing Superman, as well as several other projects under the DC banner.
It felt like a final adventure for the Guardians gang, though the post-credits scenes did hint at the door not being fully closed for some of the characters at some point down the line.
Chris Pratt, who plays the character Star-Lord, aka Peter Quill, was asked by IGN at a recent Garfield press junket if he'd ever return to his Guardians hero, and Pratt said he "certainly" would, but under one condition.
He explained: "It's hard to imagine what that would look like, so I guess I'd just have to take it on a case-by-case basis. Of course I'd be open to it. I love the character. It changed my life.
“If it came along and it made sense and I felt like it was a story worth telling, then I'd certainly, certainly be open to it. I love playing Star-Lord. If it came along and it made sense and I felt like it was a story worth telling, then I'd certainly be open to it.
“But it'd be tough to do without James, and you'd have to find an apparatus by which to maintain the tone that he so expertly creates, and it's kind of hard because he's truly one of a kind. And it would have to be with his blessing, so we'll see."
For now, both Pratt and Gunn have plenty of projects on their plates. And who knows, maybe Pratt could make an appearance in Gunn’s DCU, and one day they will reunite again over at Marvel? Only time will tell.
