Chris Rock Sets Live Streaming Stand Up Comedy Special with Netflix

Chris Rock is set to do a stand-up comedy special for Netflix, and he will be the first comedian to do a live-streaming event for the streamer. This is pretty awesome! As a longtime fan of Rock’s comedy, this is something I’m definitely not going to miss out on!

Robbie Praw, Netflix’s vice president of stand-up and comedy formats said in a statement: “Chris Rock is one of the most iconic and important comedic voices of our generation. We’re thrilled the entire world will be able to experience a live Chris Rock comedy event and be a part of Netflix history. This will be an unforgettable moment and we’re so honored that Chris is carrying this torch.”

In total, including Netflix’s Tamborine, this will be Rock’s seventh stand-up special. He previously released five specials with HBO, including Bigger & Blacker and Bring the Pain. Rock is currently on his Ego Death world tour.

The fact that this is going to be streamed live on Netflix is a big deal as it will open doors to a number of its other projects to get the live treatment. I’m surprised it actually took them this long to do something like this!
