Christian Bale and Oscar Isaac To Co-Star in THE PROMISE

Oscar Isaac is having a pretty incredible year with Ex Machina and the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and he's showing no signs of slowing down any time soon. The actor will play the villainous Apocalypse in Bryan Singer's new X-Men sequel, and then he'll reprise his Star Wars role for Rian Johnson in the still-untitled Episode VIII. But now we can add one more movie to his plate, and he'll be sharing the screen with Oscar-winning actor Christian Bale.

THR reports that Isaac and Bale have joined the cast of an indie film called The Promise, which will be directed by Hotel Rwanda filmmaker Terry George. Here's the description:

Set in the last days of the Ottoman Empire, centers on the relationships between Michael (Isaac), a brilliant medical student; the beautiful and sophisticated Ana; and Chris (Bale), who is a renowned American journalist based in Paris.

Sounds like a good opportunity for these guys to flex some different acting muscles, and the role of Ana is probably going to be very coveted now that it means working with these two powerhouse actors. George and Robin Swicord wrote the screenplay, and The Promise begins filming in southern Europe this fall.
