Christian Bale Revealed Chris Farley's BEVERLY HILLS NINJA is One of His Favorite Movies
I always find it interesting to learn what actors’ favorite movies are. Sometimes they can be pretty surprising and unexpected! For example, Christian Bale revealed in an old interview that Chris Farley’s Beverly Hills Ninja is one of his favorite films! I would have never guessed that for such a serious actor! I mean, the guy starred in The Dark Night Trilogy, American Psycho, The Machinist, and several other dramas.
Beverly Hills Ninja seems to come completely out of left field, but I love that he enjoys this movie because it really is freakin’ funny! When asked about his favorite film, this is what he told Yahoo!:
"Oh! I always choose ... the default answer for me is 'Beverly Hills Ninja.' It's an easy one to give because most people go, 'What? Oh, okay.' But Chris Farley's fantastic. Clearly I've got other films, but I just watched that two nights in a row and was crying with laughter both times, so I just went, 'Yeah I'll give that as my answer.'"
I love it! I actually watched that movie recently myself and I forgot how funny it was! Farley was a comedy master and I wish he was still around to make audiences laugh. The movie didn’t do too well with critics, but seriously, what do critics know?! It’s all about your own personal tastes and what you enjoy. Whatever makes you happy, and this is a film that just made Bale happy. You can’t fault anyone for that!
In the film, “When a young American boy washes ashore near a village populated by skilled Japanese warriors, they raise the child as one of them and instruct him in the ways of ninjitsu. Unfortunately, he grows up to be the overweight and inept but very enthusiastic Haru (Farley), who remains intent on becoming a real ninja. Haru's first assignment -- protecting a beautiful woman from California -- doesn't go smoothly, since he's both uncoordinated and completely unaccustomed to Western culture.”
If you haven’t seen Beverly Hills Ninja in a while, you should revisit it!
Thanks to /Film for the heads up!
