Christian Bale Says He Would Play Batman Again for Christopher Nolan; He Hasn't Watched THE BATMAN Yet
I don’t expect to see Christian Bale play Batman again, but the actor is open to returning to the superhero role! He hasn’t completely closed the door on it, but that’s all up to director Christopher Nolan. If Nolan has an idea for another Batman movie, Bale would join him on his journey to make it.
During an interview with ScreenRant, Bale was asked about reprising his role and he said, “No. No one’s ever mentioned it to me. No one’s brought it up. Occasionally people say to me, ‘Oh, I hear you were approached and offered all this.’ And I’m like, ‘That’s news to me. No one’s ever said that.'”
Bale added, “I had a pact with Chris Nolan. We said, ‘Hey, look. Let’s make three films, if we’re lucky enough to get to do that. And then let’s walk away. Let’s not linger too long.’ In my mind, it would be something if Chris Nolan ever said to himself, ‘You know what, I’ve got another story to tell.’ And if he wished to tell that story with me, I’d be in.”
Let’s be honest, though. There’s no way Nolan is going back to make another Batman movie. Even if he had an idea, Warner Bros. has already moved on with the franchise with The Batman, which Bale hasn’t had a chance to see yet. In fact, he doesn’t see a lot of movies.
Bale explained to Variety, "I still haven't seen it. I will see it. Listen, mate, it's amazing how few films I see. Every director I work with, I've seen a couple of their films and they're always looking at me going, 'Are you kidding?' I like to really savor films and I don't watch too many. But I will, I certainly will. Robert is an absolutely wonderful actor. We bumped into each other, talked a little bit about it ahead of time, and I heard wonderful things."
Regardless of that, what do you think about Bale and Nolan teaming up for another Batman film? Is that something you’d want to see? Do you even think there’s a chance that would ever happen?
