Christian Bale Talks About His Deep Love of STAR WARS and What Role Could Persuade Him to Join the Franchise

Christian Bale is best known for his serious roles and Method acting that have led to an Oscar win and some great movies. While he has made several dramas, Bale previously played Batman in the Dark Knight trilogy, and recently made the leap into the MCU, playing the villainous Gorr the God Butcher in Thor: Love and Thunder. He has never ventured into the Star Wars universe, but as it turns out, Bale is a huge fan, and there is one role he would love to play.

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter (via Deadline), Bale explained:

“All I ever wanted in Star Wars was to be in a Star Wars outfit and hit my head on a door or something as I walked through.”

He’s, of course, referring to the famous but unidentified stormtrooper who banged his head on the doorframe in the background of the first film in the franchise, Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope. He went on:

“The real nerds who watched Star Wars way too many times always knew about that one scene where the Stormtrooper hits his head on the door as he comes through. I wanted to be that guy. That was it. But look, if I’m fortunate enough to be more than that, oh man, yeah. What a delight that would be. I’ve still got the figures from when I was little. I also know Kathy Kennedy very well because she was working with Spielberg when I did Empire of the Sun, and now, she runs the Star Wars universe.”

So Bale would be happy just to play the clumsy stormtrooper, but it sounds like he would happily take on a bigger role as well! That’s pretty exciting, and should definitely be taken into account by the people making decisions over at LucasFilm. Bale’s Thor director, Taika Waititi, is working on a Star Wars movie, so that seems like a no-brainer match to get him into the franchise. I hope it happens. He’s a great actor and would bring an awesome character to life for sure in the Star Wars universe, plus he’s a fan, so that makes it even better.

Who would you like to see Bale play in a future Star Wars film?
