Christina Ricci and Mena Suvari Step Into a Dystopian Future in THE DRESDEN SUN Trailer
An official trailer has landed for The Dresden Sun, an indie sci-fi thriller that has been in development for over a decade under filmmaker Michael Ryan. After years of pushing to get this ambitious project off the ground, Ryan has finally crossed the finish line, and the result is a flashy, effects-heavy dive into a corporate-controlled future.
Set in a world where advanced technology and human survival are constantly clashing, The Dresden Sun follows several interconnected stories driven by greed, power, and desperation.
At the center is a skilled mercenary haunted by a traumatic past who takes on an inside job to steal a mysterious object known only as “the sphere” from Peredor Corporation. As expected, the job collapses in spectacular fashion, setting off a chain reaction that pulls multiple corporations and operatives into the chaos.
Two major players enter the picture as C & Earth Corp begins hunting for the stolen tech, hoping to exploit a scientist’s work to gain a massive advantage. At the same time, a financial analyst working for the influential investment firm Mutual One finds himself trapped between rival corporations, corporate fraud, and high-level technological espionage. His escape turns into a deadly game of survival when a psychopathic military contractor joins the pursuit.
The film’s cast includes Christina Ricci and Mena Suvari taking on key lead roles. They’re joined by Steven Ogg, Linus Roache, Samantha Win, and Richard Blackmon.
Ryan both wrote and directed The Dresden Sun, and sci-fi fans looking for indie projects that swing for the fences should at least give this one a look. Even if the story beats feel familiar, the scope and commitment behind the film make it an intriguing entry in the genre.
VMI Worldwide is set to release the film in US theaters starting February 6th, 2026.
