Christopher Eccleston Leading Cast of BBC OLIVER TWIST Inspired Prequel Series DODGER

BBC has revealed the cast of their upcoming Oliver Twist prequel drama series, Dodger, which is being lead by Doctor Who star Christopher Eccleston. He is joined by David Threlfall (Shameless), Billy Jenkins (The Crown), and Saira Choudhry (Hollyoaks). The events in the series will take place before the events of the classic novel and set a backstory for The Artful Dodger and Fagin’s gang in 1830s Victorian London.

Primetime Emmy-winner Rhys Thomas (SNL) and Lucy Montgomery (Tracy Ullman’s Show) are screenwriting the series, with author Charlie Higson (The Enemy) guest writing an episode. Thomas is also directing with Hildegard Ryan (Overshadowed).

Production has already begun in Manchester and various locations around the north west. Dodger will premiere in 2022 on CBBC and BBC iPlayer.
