Christopher Lee Will Be The Focus of a New Documentary THE LIFE AND DEATHS OF CHRISTOPHER LEE
Legendary actor Christopher Lee will be the subject of a new documentary film titled The Life and Deaths of Christopher Lee.
The film is described as an “innovative documentary which uses fresh interviews, archive material and multiple forms of traditional and cutting-edge animation, including marionation, to bring one of the world’s leading actors back to life on screen.”
The doc will include interviews with Peter Jackson, John Landis, and Joe Dante, as well as Lee’s niece, actor Dame Harriet Walter. Jon Spira (Reel Britannia, Hollywood Bulldogs, Elstree 1976) will direct and it will be narrated by popular actor and voice artist Peter Serafinowicz (Star Wars, John Wick 2, Guardians of the Galaxy) and he will provide the voice of Lee.
I’ve always enjoyed watching Lee in his films. The first movie I recall seeing him in was Gremlins 2: The New Batch. It wasn’t until I was in high school that I started watching his older Hammer horror films in the late 1950s and 1960s. It was there he played iconic roles such as Count Dracula in a series of films. His portrayal of Dracula in films like Horror of Dracula (1958) became definitive for many fans.
Lee also appeared in the James Bond franchise as the deadly assassin Francisco Scaramanga in The Man with the Golden Gun (1974). He also played the wizard Saruman in Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings trilogy and Count Dooku in the Star Wars prequel films. He’s been in a ton of other films though, and has a Guinness world record for the highest number of screen appearances.
