Christopher McQuarrie Enters The Danger Zone For TOP GUN: MAVERICK Script Rewrites

Mission: Impossible - Fallout director Christopher McQuarrie is teaming up with Tom Cruise again to help him with some script re-writes for Top Gun: Maverick. I guess the Danger Zone needs a little more danger, the kind that only Christopher McQuarrie can provide.

McQuarrie and Cruise have a long successful working relationship with each other so it doesn’t surprise me to see Cruise go to him for help. Cruise confirms with Empire, that this will be the tenth film that they’ve worked on together.

The script for the film was written by Peter Craig (12 Strong), Justin Marks (Counterpoint), and Eric Warren Singer (American Hustle). McQuarrie is helping rework parts of it that need the help.

Top Gun: Maverick is currently shooting in San Diego with Joseph Kosinski (Tron: Legacy) at the helm.

The sequel centers around Maverick who becomes a Top Gun flight instructor and Goose's son joins the program. The relationship between Maverick and Goose's son is certainly going to make for an interesting story dynamic.

It also stars Miles Teller as Goose's son, Val Kilmer, Glen Powell, Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Ed Harris, and Lewis Pullman.

Top Gun: Maverick is set to be released on July 12, 2019.
