Christopher Nolan Casts DREDD Star Olivia Thirlby in His WWII Film OPPENHEIMER

Just when you thought that Christopher Nolan was done casting his upcoming World War II film Oppenheimer, he adds Olivia Thirlby (Dredd) to his cast!

The movie centers on J. Robert Oppenheimer, the scientist who ran the Manhattan Project that led to the invention of the atomic bomb during World War II. The film has been described as an “epic thriller that thrusts audiences into the pulse-pounding paradox of the enigmatic man who must risk destroying the world in order to save it.”

Cillian Murphy is playing J. Robert Oppenheimer with Emily Blunt playing biologist and botanist Kitty Oppenheimer. Matt Damon plays Manhattan Project director Leslie Groves Jr., and Robert Downey, Jr. will take on the role of founding commissioner of the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission Lewis Strauss.

Florence Pugh is set to play psychiatrist Jean Tatlock, Benny Safdie will portray theoretical physicist Edward Teller and Josh Hartnett will embody pioneering American nuclear scientist Ernest Lawrence. The movie also stars Rami Malek, Gary Oldman, Michael Angarano, Alden Ehrenreich, Kenneth Branagh, and Matthew Modine. There’s no word on who Thirlby will be playing.

The film is based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning book American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer by Kai Bird and the late Martin J. Sherwin.
