Christopher Nolan is Shopping a New WWII Movie To Studios About The Creation of The Atom Bomb
Christopher Nolan has a new film project that he’s currently shopping around to various studios in Hollywood. The movie is set in World War II and it will revolve around J. Robert Oppenheimer and his involvement with the development of the atom bomb.
Normally, Nolan would have just worked with Warner Bros. on this, but he clearly wasn’t happy with how WarnerMedia is handling the release of their films by debuting them on HBO Max and theaters simultaneously. So, now he’s looking at other studio options.
Nolan has also been in discussions with several studios about leaving Warner Bros. for a possible first-look deal elsewhere. It’s explained that in those discussions, “Nolan made it clear that he was interested in some degree of theatrical exclusivity on his films. Bidders assume that a deal for the Oppenheimer project would also carry that requirement.”
It’s also being reported that Batman Begins, Dunkirk, and Inception actor Cillian Murphy might return to work with Nolan again on this new project. This is great news because Murphy is such a talented actor, it’s just unclear who he would play in the movie.
The film would carry a substantial budget, believed to be over $100 million. So, good luck to Nolan to try and find a studio to give him that budget!
