Chuck E. Cheese Has Continued Using Floppy Disks For It's Animatronic Rodents

It turns out that after all these years, Chuck E. Cheese has continued to use floppy discs for its dancing animatronic rodents! It’s crazy to learn that this outdated tech is still being used today, but I guess it makes so much sense that this is the case!

A Chuck E. Cheese employee shared a video on his TikTok ( showbizpizzaman) showing how the family fun pizzeria/arcade still uses floppy disks to load its animatronic shows.

Stewart shows off a floppy disk, which reads “Evergreen Show 2023," and loads it into the old computer system that he’s standing in front of and powers it up! It’s so funny that the floppy disc relic is still being used today.

For those of you thinking that maybe Chuck E. Cheese is the only place that is keeping floppy discs alive today, you’d be wrong. I’m pretty confident that the government and some schools are still using them!

It’s explained in the video that his Chuck E. Cheese branch is getting a remodel in the near future, and that this is the last floppy disk he’ll ever have to load as the company does away with the format. Who knows, maybe they’ll replace it with DVD technology next!
