Cillian Murphy as James Bond? Pierce Brosnan Says He'd Be "Magnificent" in the Role
The producers of James Bond are currently in the process of figuring out how to proceed with the iconic film franchise after the great run they had with Daniel Craig. One of the hardest parts for them is to figure out who they are going to cast as the next version of 007.
Lots of names have been thrown around by fans who they would like to see in the role, and now former James Bond star Pierce Brosnan has thrown out his own suggestion for the role… Cillian Murphy.
In an interview with the BBC at the Oscar Wilde Awards in Los Angeles, Murphy was being honored and Brosnan said he thought “Cillian would do a magnificent job as James Bond.”
However, Murphy doesn’t seem like he’d have a chance. When he was asked about it, the actor responded, “I think I’m a bit old for that.” Murphy is 47 years old, and if the producers are looking at casting a younger actor in the role, then yes, Murphy would not make the cut.
What’s funny, is that several years ago, Brosnan said that Tom Hardy should be the next James Bond. He explained: “Daniel Craig has been an incredible Bond. He’s very physical, he looks lethal. You genuinely believe this is someone who could kill a man… I think Tom Hardy could be a good Bond. I’d be happy to see him do it. You need an actor who can put a bit of wiggle into it – that’s what makes Bond.”
Regardless of the age thing, though, do you think that Murphy could pull off playing James Bond? Is Brosnan right about him?
