Cillian Murphy Praises Christopher Nolan's INTERSTELLAR and Would Have Liked To Star in It
Cillian Murphy and Christopher Nolan have collaborated on some great movies together from Batman Begins to the most recent film Oppenheimer, in which Murphy gave an incredible performance as J. Robert Oppenheimer.
Before Oppenheimer came along, Murphy was desperate to take the lead in one of Nolan’s films, and one of the films that he would’ve liked to star in was Interstellar. During a recent interview with The Independent, Murphy was asked which Nolan film he wished he would have starred in, and this was his response:
“I adore Interstellar just because I find it so emotional. I remember seeing it in the cinema when I had little kids. It just had a big impact on me. It broke my heart. I love watching his films when I’m not in them because you don’t have to freak out about the size of your ears, or whatever.”
Murphy was also asked to pair another Nolan film with Oppenheimer as a double feature, and he said:
“You could go Interstellar, which is very… explores similar scientific, physic themes. Or you could watch Dunkirk, which is also set in World War II. Dunkirk is shorter, so that might be a good match ‘cause it’s like an hour-and-a-half, and then you can go into [Oppenheimer].”
Oppenheimer has had a successful run at the box office and it recently passed $266 million domestically and $650 million worldwide. Oppenheimer is now Nolan’s fifth-highest-grossing film of all time and it has the potential to pass Interstellar ($773 million) and maybe Inception ($870 million).
