Clark Gregg Teases Agent Coulson's MC Hammer-Loving 90s Days in CAPTAIN MARVEL

We’ve got some amusing new information regarding the young Agent Coulson in Captain Marvel. One of the things I’m excited about seeing in the the film is Nick Fury and Agent Coulson meeting for the first time as young and upcoming S.H.I.E.L.D. agents in the 90s, and thanks to actor Clark Gregg, we have some new details to share with you.

Remember in Iron Man when Coulson tells Tony Stark that “This isn’t my first rodeo”? Well, in regards to that, Coulson tells EW, “This might be the rodeo. It’s one of them, for sure.” He goes on to say:

“There was something really special about going back to the early days when he was just kind of coming up the ranks. I had to take innocence workshops and go back to when he was a little less crusty and jaded!”

In case you’re wondering what can we expect from this younger, more innocent version of Coulson, he reveals that the character is obsessed with MC Hammer, which I found absolutely hilarious!

“He’s a relatively new S.H.I.E.L.D. agent who is obsessed with MC Hammer and dresses just like him, and it makes Director Fury so angry. The genie pants don’t really go with the Armani.”

We better see Coulson wearing those genie pants! He also teases the first meeting between Coulson and Fury saying that it’s a “meet-cute moment” and then adds with a laugh, “I don’t think Sam will put it that way.”

We still have yet to see an official photo of Agent Coulson in Captain Marvel but it’s going to be interesting to see how they make him look. When talking about being made to look younger, he joked:

“People don’t know this but Robert Downey is actually 71. So they’ve been doing that for him in all of these movies.”

What are your thoughts on the way that the young Coulson will be portrayed in Captain Marvel?

Captain Marvel is being directed by the writing and directing team of Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck and it also stars Brie Larson as Captain Marvel, Jude Law as Mar-Vell, Djimon Hounsou as Korath the Pursuer, Samuel L. Jackson as a young Nick Fury, Ben Mendelsohn as Talos, and Lee Pace as Ronan the Accuser.

Captain Marvel will hit theaters on March 8th, 2019.
