Classic Fairy Tales Retold by Advertising Agencies

Thirteen advertising agencies were given a challenge: create an ad that is a retelling of a classic fairy tale. YouTube showed these ads at SXSW under the project name “The Greatest Stories Retold,” and they are amazing. The length of each video varies greatly from about 15 seconds all the way to around 7 minutes and they range in style from comedic to dark to music video. The project was something that YouTube hopes will help ad creators be more creative with their ads and engage the audience more. These ads certainly show how creative some can be, and agencies can definitely learn a lot from these. Ads will never go away. As much as we consumers try, ads will always exist. Might as well make them enjoyable, right?

My personal favorite was probably the comedic Goldi’s Locks ad where some bears try selling some padlocks to protect your house, bed, and porridge from thieving little girls. Some of my favorites are below, but you can check out all of ads at the official site above.

Got a Goldi all up in your personal space? Keep her out this hibernation season with the Goldi's Locks home security system.

In the fairy tale, the Witch was outsmarted by Hansel and Gretel. Today she gets a chance to start over. By rebuilding her Candy House to be more enticing than ever. However she learns a disturbing truth about the real world that could upset her plans.

The clock strikes midnight and Cinderella goes missing, leaving behind nothing but a single slipper. In this noir tale, Detective Prince takes the case, pieces together her unfortunate past, and solves a crime that fairy tales are made of.
