Classic Frank Frazetta Fantasy Art To Be Made Available as Silkscreen Prints Thanks to Kickstarter
One of my favorite artists of all time is Frank Frazetta. Over the course of his career, he has created some of the most badass fantasy art that I've ever seen. His art depicting warriors and beasts has been seen in books, comics and more. No one does fantasy art like Frank Frazetta, but he has inspired so many other artists with his work and style.
Now, thanks to a Kickstarter campaign launched by the Frazetta family, fans will be able to own silkscreen art prints featuring four of his most popular pieces. Those pieces include “Death Dealer,” “Barbarian,” “Silver Warrior,” and “The Huns.” They are looking to raise $12,000 to produce the prints, which I'm sure you've seen before. If not, I assume you've been living under a rock your whole life. The Kickstarter states:
Frank Frazetta is a name that all fantasy and comic artists know and revere. One of the founding fathers of fantasy art, the reach of his affect on popular culture cannot be underestimated. From movie posters, to album covers, to animated film- even to video game design, there is not an area of entertainment that hasn’t felt his influence.
The goal of this Kickstarter project is to present four of Frazetta’s most iconic, classic paintings into a medium they’ve never been adapted to- Collectable limited edition silkscreen art prints!
To secure yourself a print, you'll have to pledge $125 on Kickstarter, which really isn't that bad considering they will be quality prints and it's a lot cheaper than trying to get your hands on an original piece! Here's some information on the silkscreen process:
The silkscreen printing process (Serigraphy) gives rich, deep, and vibrant colors that just are not available through any other process. Each completed print is a unique art-object, produced through a labor intensive method where each hand-mixed color is laid down individually until the full image is revealed.
The Kickstarter has already surpassed its funding goal and if you end up securing yourself a print they will ship them out in March.
