Clear Horizon Is Bringing the Cult Kidnapping Story of Heiress Patty Hearst to the Big Screen in MIZMOON
David Brown, executive-producer and founder of production company Clear Horizon, is making his directorial debut with the upcoming true-crime dramatic feature Mizmoon, which will tell the bizarre true story of the terrorist organization known as the Symbionese Liberation Army and its historic kidnapping of heiress Patty Hearst. Brown will also produce the project alongside Cynthia Greening and Todd Lundbohm, from a script from Greening and Tony Clarno, with Reinhard Denke.
Here’s the synopsis the film will cover:
Mizmoon will tell the story of Patricia ‘Mizmoon’ Soltisyk, the radicalized college co-ed who co-founded the terrorist group with her lesbian lover and an escaped convict with an obsession for guns and explosives. The group famously carried out bank robberies and murders in the 1970s and kidnapped heiress Hearst, the granddaughter of American publishing magnate William Randolph Hearst. Soltysik was one of the six SLA members killed in a shootout with the LAPD in the mid 70s.
This is a crazy story that almost feels like if it weren’t true, you’d think it over-the-top. It has many twists and turns, and I think it will make for a fascinating movie. Deadline reports casting is underway, and the film is scheduled to shoot later this year.
