Clint Eastwood's Classic Western A FIST FULL OF DOLLARS Is Getting a Series Adaptation
One of the classic spaghetti westerns that helped launch Clint Eastwood’s career, A Fist Full of Dollars, is going to be getting a series adaptation.
Mark Gordon Pictures has acquired the rights to the film as well as Akira Kurosawa’s 1961 samurai epic, Yojimbo, which the Eastwood film was actually based on. Game of Thrones scribe Bryan Cogman is currently in talks to write and adapt the series.
Yojimbo and A Fistfull of Dollars both tell the story of a wandering stranger, “The Man With No Name,” who comes to a town riddled with violence and uses his wit and various skills to trick the town’s competing gangs into destroying each other.
It’s explained that the series will pull from this source material to create “an original, contemporary retelling of the story.”
A Fistfull of Dollars not only launched Eastwood’s career, but he also went on to reprise the role of the man with no name in films like A Few More Dollars and The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly.
Both Yojimbo and A Fist Full of Dollars are great, classic films that are a must-watch for anyone who loves movies. I’m actually curious to see how this series turns out, but I hope it’s good! If it’s good, I’ll watch it.
