Clip From Director Joseph Kosinski's Psychological Thriller SPIDERHEAD with Chris Hemsworth and Miles Teller
Netflix has released a clip from the upcoming film Spiderhead, which was directed by Joseph Kosinski (Tron: Legacy, Top Gun: Maverick). The movie is a “genre-bending and darkly funny psychological thriller,” and it stars Chris Hemsworth, Miles Teller, Jurnee Smollett, Mark Paguio, and Tess Haubrich.
The movie is based on a New Yorker short story by George Saunders, and the story is set in the near future, where convicts are offered the chance to volunteer as medical subjects to shorten their sentence. They end up being given a drug that unleashes all kinds of wild emotions and things get a little out of control with it.
In the clip, Hemsworth’s character brings Teller and Haubrich together to talk about how attractive they are to each other. Things start out slow and uninteresting, but after they are administered a new drug, they start getting really into each other.
Here’s the synopsis for the film:
In the near future in a state-of-the-art penitentiary run by the brilliant visionary Steve Abnesti (Chris Hemsworth), inmates wear a surgically attached device that administers dosages of mind-altering drugs in exchange for commuted sentences. There are no bars, no cells, or orange jumpsuits. In Spiderhead, incarcerated volunteers are free to be themselves. Until they're not. At times, they're a better version. Need to lighten up? There's a drug for that. At a loss for words? There's a drug for that, too… But when two subjects, Jeff (Miles Teller) and Lizzy (Jurnee Smollett), form a connection, their path to redemption take a twistier turn, as Abnesti's experiments begin to push the limits of free will altogether.
The movie was written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (Deadpool, Zombieland), and it will debut on Netflix starting June 17th, 2022.
