Clip From Shudder's CURSED FILMS, Which Focuses on The Curse of THE OMEN
Shudder has produced a must-watch five-episode docuseries titled Cursed Films. The show focuses on the legends and myths of cursed movie productions, which is something I’ve been fascinated with for a long time.
They’ve already debuted an episode of the series which focused on The Exorcist. If you haven’t watched it yet, you should! They dive into some intriguing details. The next episode of the series, which airs tonight on April 9th, centers around Richard Donner’s 1976 horror film The Omen.
A lot of crazy-ass things happened during the production of this movie! A few of these things included screenwriter David Seltzer's airplane being hit by lighting and on a separate flight, Gregory Peck’s Airplane was also hit by lightning. Oh, and producers Mace Neufeld’s plane was hit by lightning as well. Different planes, different times during the production.
The hotel director Richard Donner was staying in was bombed by the IRA. Then the director and actors were scheduled to meet up for some food at a restaurant, which was also bombed by the IRA.
On Friday the 13th, Aug. 1976 special effects consultant John Richardson and his assistant got in a car wreck in Holland. His assistant was sliced in half by the cars front wheel. When John scrambled out of the wreckage he looked up and saw a road sign which said… Ommen, 66.6km.
A plane that was scheduled to be used for the film cast and crew was rescheduled and used for a commercial flight instead, crashed and killed everyone on the plane.
These are just a few of the things that happened! The clip below focuses on several of the mishaps involving the airplanes. Here’s the synopsis for the series:
