CLUELESS is The Latest Film To Get The Remake Treatment
I won’t hide the fact that I loved the 1995 movie Clueless it really was an enjoyable film. Hell, I even liked the TV series that was based on the film. Well, now Clueless is the latest film to get the remake treatment!
The film is in early development at Paramount Pictures and Girls Trip writer Tracy Oliver is producing the film with the writer of Netflix’s Glow, Marquita Robinson, writing the script.
There aren’t a lot of details on the film, but Deadline says that it’s a fresh new take for the millennium and we don’t know if any of the original characters will be reprising their roles as adults.
The original film was loosely based on Jane Austen’s Emma, and it provided a satirical look into the Beverly Hills high school scene of the 90s. The movie featured a great cast that included Alicia Silverstone, Paul Rudd, Breckin Meyer, Jeremy Sisto, Donald Faison, Stacey Dash, and the late Brittany Murphy.
The basic plot of the film centered around a shallow, rich and socially successful girl named Cher (Silverstone) who takes a hopelessly klutzy new student named Tai (Murphy) under her wing to make her popular and Tai ends up becoming more popular than Cher.
One of the things that made Clueless so great was the era that it was set it. I guess the studio and the creative team are just looking to tell the same story for a different generation.
What do you think about Clueless being remade?
