CNN Sets Date For Final Season Of Anthony Bourdain's PARTS UNKNOWN
CNN has announced it will air the final season of Anthony Bourdain's Parts Unknown this fall. The shortened season, which only has seven episodes, will be quite a bit different than the format seen in the past. At the time of his suicide, only one of the upcoming episodes had full narration from Bourdain. The Los Angeles Times reports that episode will run as normal, but the rest will have afterthoughts and narration from crew and people who were traveling with Bourdain at the locations. It's explained:
"Each episode will feel slightly different depending on what’s gathered in the field. They will have the full presence of Tony because you’ll see him, you’ll hear him, you’ll watch him. That layer of his narration will be missing, but it will be replaced by other voices of people who are in the episodes."
CNN said there is footage beyond what they're offering that won't be used, but that they have no intention of using it at this time. The network's reasoning was they didn't want to put together footage that wasn't meant to be. The network did not comment on whether or not this included footage close to the time of Bourdain's death, or if any episodes will touch on times close to that fateful day.
