COBRA KAI Creators Give Update on Upcoming 4th Season
Cobra Kai just released its third season, the first at its new streaming home, Netflix, and it’s just as great as the ones that came before it. The first and second seasons premiered on YouTube less than a year apart, but then with the pandemic and the move to Netflix, it took almost two years for us to see the third season. Now fans are hoping for a fourth season in a decent time frame.
Regarding the next season, the creators and writers of the series, Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg, and Josh Heald recently spoke to GamesRadar+ and provided an update:
“So, we’ve been working on the scripts for season 4 for a few months now,” Hurwitz says. “They’re all coming in. The whole season has been planned out in great detail. We have, in our possession, eight scripts right now. About five of them are sort of in their ‘ready to shoot’ place. The final two scripts, we have detailed outlines, and we’ll have scripts either by the end of [2020], or at the very beginning of [2021]. We hope to be shooting the show in the coming months. We’re still figuring out some of the specifics, but the intent is for early [2021], to get back on set, with all the COVID protocols in place, and to get back to some karate ass-kicking in the valley.”
It’s good to hear that the guys have used this year wisely and they are wrapping up the writing phase so that they can get right to shooting. We have a tournament to get to! The final episode in the third season saw the uniting of Daniel and Johnny and their students, and an epic battle coming to a head between them and Kreese’s Cobra Kai. I can’t wait to get back in the dojo and see how it all turns out!
Cobra Kai seasons 1-3 are available to watch now on Netflix.
