COBRA KAI Creators Say There's Always Potential to Revisit That Universe Ahead of the Release of the Sixth and Final Season
Fans are looking forward to the long-awaited, sixth and final season of the hit Netflix dramedy Cobra Kai. It will be bittersweet to see the resolution of the story, and know it is the end of the road for the characters we have grown to know and love over the course of the show’s first five seasons. But the show’s creators, Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg and Josh Heald, are saying that we should never say never to seeing these characters return. The trio sat down in a recent interview with Collider, and Heald explained:
"We will never give actual closure when it comes to anything. We love working in the ‘Cobra Kai’ universe, so there's always potential to revisit that world. We're certainly thinking about other ideas within the Miyagi-verse, and it's only a matter of time before we figure out exactly which direction we're gonna head. […] We're really excited about Cobra Kai Season 6. We're gonna go out with a bang, and it's gonna be an amazing experience for fans of the franchise."
This is great to hear! It’s smart that they are giving the show an ending at this point so that we can see how this chapter ends, but maybe one day we will get to see a new story featuring Johnny and Daniel. Cobra Kai Season 6 is set to begin filming in early 2024. The final season is also set to premiere next year, but a specific release window is yet to be announced by Netflix. Stay tuned for updates.
