COBRA KAI Season 3 Will Go Back To Okinawa and More Info From Our Comic-Con Interview

We (Billy and I) got to interview the cast and series creators of the amazing YouTube Premium show, Cobra Kai. I geeked out harrrd, and professed my lifelong crush for William Zabka straight to his face, and got a picture with him, so I can pretty much just leave Comic-Con now. I can take my blisters and my picture and go home happy. But I won’t because there is still so much to see!

Anyway, we interviewed Zabka, who plays Johnny Lawrence; Ralph Macchio, who plays Daniel LaRusso; Martin Kove, who plays John Kreese; plus Xolo Maridueña (Miguel), Tanner Buchanan (Robby), and Mary Mouser (Sam). We also got to grill the creators Josh Heald, Hayden Schlossberg, and Jon Hurwitz. They were all so sweet and gracious, and we got a couple great bits of info for the upcoming season.

The juiciest bit of info divulged by the creators was just one word: Okinawa. That was enough to get us excited and get the wheels turning, but then Macchio divulged a bit more. He explained that because of the events in the final episode of the second season, Daniel will be facing some major troubles. His business will be failing, he will be struggling with his Miyagi-Do dojo and what it has become. So he will be going back to Okinawa, Japan, where it all began, to rediscover the origins of the karate method he has based his life upon. He said that the origin of Cobra Kai will also be delved into.

That’s so awesome! I asked the creators if they could give any validity to the rumors of Elisabeth Shue’s character Ali, or the character of Terry Silver from Karate Kid 3, joining the cast. They said they could not confirm or deny anything at this time. But they did take a firm stance when I asked if they thought the crane kick was illegal. They said no! They explained that the referee was seasoned and would have called it otherwise, but they love that there’s still a debate among fans.

All the interviews were fun, and we will be sure to upload them to YouTube soon for all you fans to check out in their entirety. For now, we can all get excited for the next season and the journey it will take us on.
